On Friday, November 14, Clarion Hospital’s Diabetes Education Department held a free health fair to help the community become aware of diabetes and offer tips on managing the disease.
Donna Oberlander, PA House State Representative, spoke at the event, and Dr. Christopher Moore presented the “Diabetes Hometown Initiative.”
Coordinators of the event — Gretchen Frye and Mary Obenreder — were available to answer the public’s questions on diabetes prevention and awareness.
Gretchen Frye told exploreClarion.com, “We are pleased at the number of people who attended the fair. Our goal is to help educate the community on diabetes’ awareness, prevention, and control.”
During the event, a chef was available to provide food samples of acceptable and appetizing dishes. Recipes were available.
Gretchen said that “portion control” could also be a measure that individuals could initiate.
There were also multiple displays to help the community develop a better understanding of the disease.
