John R. Lengyel

John R. Lengyel, 81, Waynesboro, Pa., died Nov. 17, 2014, at UPMC Bedford Hospital.

Born July 8, 1933, in Johnstown, son of Joseph and Bertha (Fabian) Lengyel. Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Alex, Albert and Joseph Lengyel Jr.; and sisters, Bertha Yamnitzky and Margaret Lee. Survived by his brother, Emery C. Lengyel, Reno, Nev.; cousins, William Sabo and Sara (Sabo) Kravec, Johnstown; and numerous nieces and nephews.

John was U.S. Air Force veteran and a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. Member of Waynesboro County Club and Waynesboro American Legion Post 0015. John was retired from the federal government, where he worked as a construction engineer specializing in communications providing the opportunity to work at different communications sites all of the world. He was a lifelong pilot and enjoyed music, bicycling, hunting and the outdoors. Many of his happiest memories were at the family-owned Four Pine Lodge in Clarion County.

Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., 710 Broad St., Johnstown, Pa. 15906, where funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. that afternoon, the Rev. Albert W. Kovacs, officiating.
