“It feels great to get my first win,” Ashley said. “It was good for us to get a chance to play at home. We can build off the big start today for the game at Walsh Tuesday.”
The Golden Eagles, who led 38-19 at halftime, used a 19-9 run that started at the 10:58 mark of the second half to build a 20-point, 66-46, lead with two minutes to play.
Seven different Clarion players scored during the run led by four points from Heeter, who’s double-double was the 45th of her career and her second of the season, and four from Delrika Jones-Carey, who nearly had a double-double of her own with nine points and nine rebounds.
Tania Holmes added 12 points, five rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block for the Golden Eagles (1-3), while Cara Cook added a career-best nine points to go with three rebounds.
Makayla Rosselot paced Ursuline (0-4) with 12 points and six rebounds. Emma Ricketts had 11 points and five rebounds, while Erica Huber completed a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. He added four assists and four steals.
The Golden Eagles used a 21-8 run at the start of the game to build the 19-point halftime lead. Six different Golden Eagles scored during the early spurt led by a pair of 3-pointers for six points from Holmes, five from Cook and four from Heeter.
