BEAVER TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — Clarion-based State Police say a two-vehicle collision occurred on November 22 at 11:30 a.m., on Interstate 80, in Beaver Township, Clarion County.

According to police, the crash involved Hannah K. Sprunk, 21, of Sewickley, and John M. Rittle, 41, of Bethlehem.

The crash occurred as both drivers were traveling west in the left-hand lane of I-80 near mile marker 50.

Police say Rittle pulled his 2009 KIA Rondo onto the left-hand shoulder and stopped due to icy road conditions caused by freezing rain.

Sprunk applied the brakes in her 2008 Hyundai Elantra to slow down, as traffic in front of her was slowing, and her vehicle spun approximately 180 degrees off the left side of the roadway and impacted Rittle’s vehicle, police say.

Sprunk was wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision and was uninjured.

Rittle was wearing a seat belt, and his two passengers — a 7-year-old female and a 5-year-old male, both of Bethlehem — were also secured with child safety seats. All three escaped injuries.

Sprunk was cited with a traffic violation.

PSP Clarion were assisted on scene by St. Petersburg VFD and Bauer Towing.
