George H. Amsler

George H. Amsler, 92, of Cabot, formerly of East McKeesport, died on Sunday, November 30, 2014.

He was born March 20, 1922 in Franklin, a son of the late James L. Sr. and Hazel (Wiseman) Amsler.

He was a member of the Linway United Presbyterian Church in North Versailles, the East McKeesport Lodge 765 F&AM, the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Pittsburgh, Syria Temple, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Al-O-Mon Forest, McKeesport, East Hills Royal Arch Chapter 268, Mon Valley Shrine Luncheon Club, Liberty Valley Council #50, Royal and Selected Master Masons, and Duquesne Commandry No. 72 of the Knights Templar. He was a retired supervisor at the Westinghouse Air Brake Company in Wilmerding, a World War II Army veteran and a member of the American Legion Post in Saxonburg and a VFW Life Member.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers James L. Jr., Cecil E., Robert L. and Richard D. Amsler. He is survived by a brother Thomas W. (Helen) Amsler of Knox.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, with a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m., at the Forgie-Snyder Funeral Home, 1032 Broadway, East McKeesport, 412-823-8083, where everyone will gather for a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday with Rev. Eric Dennis officiating. Entombment will follow at Penn Lincoln Memorial Park, North Huntingdon. A memorial service will be held in Knox at a latter date.
