Frank M. NovoselFrank M. Novosel, 96, of 102 Laurel Avenue, Kane, died Friday morning, December 5, 2014 at the Kane Community Hospital after a brief illness.

Born January 28, 1918 in Kane, he was the son of Nickolas and Barbara Balaban Novosel. On February 22, 1949 in Kane, he married Katherine E. Lunger, who died in 2006.

Frank served as a Chief Master Machinist in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Active in the lumber, oil & gas industry in the area, he was a partner of the Novosel Lumber Company, manufactured charcoal and distillation products, and was president of Sergeant Gas Company.

He was a member of St. Callistus Catholic Church in Kane, and had been a member of the Kane Country Club, the BPO Elks #329, VFW #1132 and the American Legion #250, all in Kane.

Surviving are a daughter, Judith N. (Ron) Cook of Kane; a brother, George Novosel of State College; and three sisters, Mary Hebda and Amelia Kocjancic, both of Kane, and Ann Huntzinger of Hot Springs, Ark.; a granddaughter, Roni Cook and grandson Shane Cook, and a great granddaughter, Reese Swanson. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Preceding him in death, besides his wife and parents, are a daughter, Mary Novosel in infancy; a sister, Rose Lundeen; and brothers Nick, Tom, Joseph, Carl, Steve and John Novosel.

Friends may call from 5:00 until 8:00 on Monday at the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home, Inc., where a Vigil Service will be held at 5:30, and may attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 on Tuesday with The Very Rev. Philip Pinczewski, pastor, as Celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Callistus Cemetery, Kane.
