Pauline N. Rettig

Member_140943 (2)Pauline N. Rettig, 69, of Stein Road, Chicora, went to be with the Lord early Thursday morning, December 4, 2014 at her home.
Pauline was born in Lower Burrell, Westmoreland County on December 21, 1944. She was the daughter of the late George Austin and Addaline Blanche Hawkins Gilliam.
She was a long time member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Chicora. Mrs. Rettig had a love for animals, and especially enjoyed the company of her five cats. She was a devout Christian, an avid reader and enjoyed spending time in her home’s library.She was a graduate of Butler County Community College with a degree in licensed practical nursing and was employed for 24 years at the Butler VA Medical Center.

She is survived by her husband, Larry J. Rettig, whom she married on July 3, 1986 at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Butler. Also surviving are three sons, Thomas W. Rodgers and his wife, Deborah, of Bruin, Christopher R. Rodgers and his wife, Dr. Roseanne Rodgers, of Finksburg, MD, and John J. Rodgers and his wife, Colleen, of Fenelton; a step son, David J. Rettig and his wife, Cathy, of West Sunbury; eleven grandchildren, Tyler and Megan Rodgers, Jeffrey and Craig Rodgers, Nicholas, Elaina, and Alexa Rodgers, Chase Rodgers, Karissa Rodgers and Aiden Christian Rodgers-Ace, and a step grandson, William “Billy” Hutchison; a great granddaughter, Liana Marie Rodgers; two sisters, Mary Burns of Lower Burrell and Della Kealey and her husband, Don, of Saltsburg; four brothers-in-law, Gary Rettig of Cabot, Tim Rettig and his wife, Annie, of Meridian, Thomas Rettig of Butler, and Daniel Rettig of East Butler, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Rodgers, who died on November 11, 1995 and a niece, Persilla Young, who died on December 8, 2010; four sisters, Katherine “Kit”, Peggy, Flossie, and Martha, as well as a number of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd., Chicora, from 1 – 3 and 6 – 8 p.m. Sunday and from 10 – 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church 2217 Chicora Rd., Chicora, where a funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Joseph Boomhower, church pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Gruenwald Cemetery, Summit Twp.
