Wilma-Garvey-1417705732Wilma Carolyn Garvey, 88, formerly of Seneca, of 11005 Campbell Road, Conneaut Lake, died at 10 pm Wednesday, December 3, 2014.

Born January 4, 1926 in Wishaw PA, she was a daughter of the late Carl and Nora Secrist Rydbom.

A homemaker, Wilma attended school at Wishaw and Reynoldsville. She graduated Reynoldsville High School with the class of 1943.

She was a member of Hasson Heights Community Church in Oil City, where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for several years. She was a Past Matron of Morris Chapter #14 Order of Eastern Star and she was awarded Life Membership to the Pennsylvania Parent Teacher Association for outstanding service to that organization.

Wilma was employed at Sylvania Electric Company during WW II and later served as cashier for Riverside Market.

She enjoyed bowling, sewing, crafts and especially having friends in her home.

On September 30, 1946 she married Elmer F. Garvey, who preceded her in death on June 8, 2007.

She is survived by the following children, John and Lola Harlan of San Marcos CA, Fred and Charlene Garvey of Conneaut Lake, Ronald and Betty Yost of Oil City, Kurt and Bonnie Garvey of Kimberling City MO, and Eric Garvey of Meadville; 12 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Edwin Rydbom; six sisters, Louise Robertson, Helen Hallsten, Evelyn Buhite, Frances Colwell, June Horner and Doreen Pierce; and a granddaughter, Chevy Yost Ralph.

Friends may call at the Morrison Funeral Home, 110 Petroleum St, Oil City, on Tuesday from 10 to 11 am.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11 am with the Rev. Jamie Fowler, officiating.

Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Meadville.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Hasson Heights Community Church, 21 Fairview Ave, Oil City PA 16301.
