Thumbnail (1)Betty Jane Cauvel Richey, 92, of Franklin, passed away on Thursday, December 4th at her residence.

Born March 18, 1922 in Sugarcreek Borough, Betty was the daughter of the late William B. and Hazel L. Hart Cauvel. She was married to Thomas C. Richey on December 29, 1949 and he preceded her in death in 1992.

Betty was a 1940 graduate of Rocky Grove High School. She was a homemaker, enjoyed bowling and was a member of several local bowling leagues. She also was a very active member of the East Grove United Methodist Church.

Betty is survived by several nieces and nephews; her special friends, Joyce and Will Fee of Franklin; and her “sunshine girl”, Andra Fee and her son, Noah of Columbus, Ohio.

In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by her 3 brothers, William, Jack and Ernest Cauvel; her 2 sisters, Sara Steer and Mary Ann Cauvel; her nephews, Tom and Samuel Cauvel, Robert E. Robinson, Sr. and Mead C. Robinson, Jr; and her sister-in-law, Doris Jean Addington Cauvel.

Family and friends of Betty will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, December 7th. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 8th at the East Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Lea Guiney, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment will be in Graham Cemetery.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the East Grove United Methodist Church Building Fund and/or the Venango County Humane Society — PO Box 1045, Oil City, PA 16301.
