Held at Nelson Fieldhouse, Edinboro won the team title with a record 189.5 points and a record 9 champions. Lock Haven was second with 130.5, Mercyhurst third with 95.5, Kutztown fourth with 79, Clarion fifth with 76.0 and Pitt-Johnstown sixth with 74 points. Twelve teams competed.
Daley advanced to the finals with a 16-0 tf win over Shawn Heist (Bloom), then decisioned Nick Bud (Gannon) 6-2 and Andrew Welton (Mercyhurst) 3-2, before losing to former PSAC Champion Ziad Haddad 20-6 in the finals. Daley now has a 9-6 season record.
Slade Horner put together a strong day going 5-1 and finishing third at 165-pounds. In the finals he defeated Angelo Bortoluzzi by an 11-2 major decision, avenging and earlier 5-4 loss to the Laker. Horner had four takedowns in the third place winning bout. Horner is now 12-7 on the season.
Michael Pavasko also had a strong day posting a 3-1 record – including a 7-2 win over Lock Haven’s Tyler Wood to finish in third place. Pavasko had first and second period takedowns, and a reversal to pave the way. He is now 10-7 on the season.
Darch posted a 4-1 record on Saturday and a very impressive 21-7 major decision over Adam Mackie of Lock Haven to take third place. Darch had seven takedowns and two near falls to post his third place ending. He is now a 4-time PSAC placewinner – taking 2nd at 174 in 2012, 4th in 2011 and 5th in 2013. He upped his season record to 11-7.
Also earning places for the Golden Eagles were fifth place Daniel Sutherland (Sr. North Bellmore, N.Y. 184) and sixth place Seth Carr (Fr. McDonald/South Fayette – 125).
Sutherland had a 3-2 record on the day and won his fifth place match by 9-2 margin over Dakota DesLauriers (MER). Sutherland opened fast with a takedown and three-point near fall and never looked back. His record is now 9-10 this season.
Carr meanwhile posted a 2-3 recod at 125-pounds and lost his fifth place match to Mike Soria of Seton Hill by a 6-3 score. Carr now has a season record of 5-10.
Also wrestling for Clarion but not placing were Joel Rosko (Fr. Campbell, N.Y.) 0-2 at 133; John Pezze (Jr. North Huntingdon/Norwin) 0-2 at 141; Brodie Zacherl (Fr. Brookville) 1-2 at 149 and Evan DeLong (Fr. Kane) 1-2 at 157.
Clarion wrestles at Edinboro on Saturday, December 13 and 7pm.
