John A. Godlewski

John A. Godlewski, 64, of 508 Chapman Rd. Pleasantville, passed away unexpectedly Monday afternoon December 8, 2014 at the Titusville Area Hospital.

John was born on May 19, 1950 in Pittsburgh, PA, a son of the late William and Helen Bloomling Godlewski. He was married to Rosemary Clark on May 26, 1973 in Pittsburgh.

John was a graduate of Montour High School, class of 1968 and later attended lumber grading school earning his certificate as such.

He was a veteran having served in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He entered the service on March 5, 1970 at Pittsburgh, PA and was honorably discharged on Oct. 8, 1971 at Ft. Lewis, WA with the rank of specialist fourth class.
He had been self-employed for over 30 years as a logger operating Godlewski Hardwoods.

John was a member of the Titusville Assembly of God Church. He was a member of the Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW. He enjoyed shooting and woodworking. He was an avid Steelers and Penguins fan.

John is survived by his wife Rosemary of Pleasantville; four children, Brenda Foulds and husband David of Oil City, Becky Southwick and husband Jared of Titusville, Bonnie Godlewski of Leeper, and John Godlewski and wife Krista of Meadville; nine grandchildren, Benjamin Lockhart, Airman Donald Bickel, Abigail, Sarah, Isabella and Noah Southwick, Gavin Presto, Adien and Breanne DeLoe; a brother, William Godlewski and wife Mary Ellen of Pittsburgh; three step-sisters, Mary Beth, Joyce and Barbara; numerous nieces and nephews including a special nephew Billy Godlewski of Pittsburgh; and best friends Eric “Chaka” Walters, and Kathy and Dan Wolfe, all of Pleasantville.

Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM and attend the funeral service there on Friday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Terry Bidwell, pastor of the Assembly of God, officiating.

Interment will be in Neilltown Cemetery.
