John A. Moore, Jr.

John A. Moore, Jr., 57, a resident of 246 Stone Road, Franklin died peacefully at 10:35 AM Sunday, December 7, 2014 in his home; following a period of declining health.

He was born December 27, 1956 in Franklin, a beloved son of John A. Moore, Sr. and Shirley Reitz Moore.

John was a 1975 graduate of Franklin High School.

He had worked as a material handler for more than 18 years at Franklin Steel; and was the longtime owner and operator of his own chimney sweep and landscaping business.

John loved horses. He devoted his whole lifetime as a 4-H Horse Leader. Before his health began to fail, he was an avid outdoorsman; also enjoying hunting and bird watching.

He attended the Nicklin United Methodist Church.

He was married February 8, 1975 to the former Jamie K. Orr; who survives.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son: Christopher Moore of Franklin and by a daughter: Nicole Paul and her husband Eric of Freedom; in addition to two grandsons: Cole Moore of Espyville and Dalton Moon of Freedom.

Also surviving are his parents: John A. Moore, Sr. and Shirley Reitz Moore of Franklin; two sisters: Jackie Egger and her husband James of Franklin and Jennifer Paris and her husband Robert of Plainfield, Indiana; in addition to a niece and two nephews.

Friends may call Saturday 2-4 PM in the Timothy E. Hartle Funeral Home, 1328 Elk Street, Franklin.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 4 PM in the funeral home led by Myrna Cornmesser, a longtime family friend.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in John’s name to his family to help defray his mounting medical expenses.
