Clarion State Police Calls: Vehicle vs Deer Crashes

Clarion-based State Police responded to two crashes involving deer.

Vehicle vs Deer Crash in Clarion Township

CLARION TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — Clarion-based State Police say around 8:12 p.m. on December 13, a one-vehicle accident occurred on Interstate 80 West, 3625 feet west of State Route 322, in Clarion Township.

According to police, a 2004 Volvo XC 90, driven by 62-year-old Richard M. Eischen, of Ashford, CT, was traveling west on SR 80 when a deer entered into the path of the vehicle.

Eischen was unable to avoid the deer and struck it with the front end.

He was using a seat belt and was not injured.

Car vs Deer Crash in Beaver Township

BEAVER TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — According to Clarion-based State Police, around 2:25 p.m. on December 13, a one-car accident occurred on Interstate 80 East, approximately 6/10 mile west of State Route 338, in Beaver Township, Clarion County.

Police say a 2012 Ford Focus, driven by 23-year-old Alexa J. Gutzweiler, of Easton, Pa., was traveling east on SR 80 when a deer entered the roadway in front of the car.

Gutzweiler was unable to stop and struck the deer with the front of the car.

She was using a seat belt and was not injured.
