Eugene Dale (Gene) Bartholomew

OI1509861408_BartholomewEugene[1]Eugene Dale (Gene) Bartholomew, 83, of Venus, Pennsylvania, formerly of Linesville, passed away Saturday, December 13, 2014, at the Meadville Medical Center after a long extended illness.

Born May 1, 1931, in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of the late Grant and Clara Berndt Bartholomew. He married May Daniels on November 14, 1959 and they just celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.

Gene was employed at Pipe Machinery in Wickliffe, Ohio and at Locke Machinery in Andover, Ohio. He then worked his way up to plant manager at Gavin Industries in Adamsville, Pennsylvania and later at Guarantee Specialties in Cleveland until he retired in 1993. After his retirement, he served as Conneaut Township Supervisor.

He enjoyed many camping trips to the Allegheny National Forest and several trips “out west”. Gene enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, fixing anything, restoring tractors and working around the house and farm with his wife and their many projects.

Above all else, Gene was a completely devoted husband, father and father role model to many. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Survivors include his loving wife, May of Venus; two sons, Eugene Bartholomew and his wife, Diane, of California and Timothy Bartholomew of Nevada; four daughters, Christine Martin and her husband, Bruce, of Newberry, Florida, Arlene Werner of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, Clara Mook of Cochranton, and Terri Fisher and her husband, David, of Venus; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Bonnie; and his siblings, Ralph, Betty, Carl, Grant, Vern, Ruth, Paul, and Roger.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U.S. Highway 6, Linesville.

A funeral service will follow the calling at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Ron Welker of the Penn Line Church of Christ in Pierpont, Ohio officiating.

Burial will be in Penn Line Cemetery in Conneaut Township, Linesville.
