Member_141255[1]Ronald D. Over, 84, of Sligo passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at the Clarion Hospital.

He was born in Monroe Township Clarion County on December 6, 1930 to the late Harold and Arveda Elder Over.

Ronald was married to Shirley Hackbarth on June 21, 1952, who preceded him in death.

He retired from the Heeter Lumber Company in Sligo where he was a Redi Mix driver, driving the silver bullet, and a shop carpenter.

Ronald served in the United States Marines during the Korean Conflict.

He was a member of the Sligo United Methodist Church.

Ronald was a member of the N.R.A. He enjoyed hunting, woodworking, snowmobiling, motorcycling, and four wheeling.

He is survived by his companion, Louise Gathers of Sligo, two children, Ronald Lawrence Over and wife Jill of Shippenville and Jerry L. Over and Brenda of Reidsburg, two brothers, Carl Over of Curlsville, and Vern Over from Sligo, and two sisters, Doris “Dode” Stiltner of Reidsburg, and Gladys Taylor of Sligo.

Ronald is also survived by four grandchildren, Kristen Henry and husband Luke of Erie, and Jonathan Over, Joshua Over, and Johanna Over all from Reidsburg, and a great granddaughter, Nora Henry of Erie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers, Donald Over and Glen “Windy” Over, and two sisters, Thelma Benn and Louise Kifer.

Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home, 638 Wood Street, Clarion.

Military honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post 66 of Clarion at 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 in the funeral home where funeral services to be held at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Craig Peterson, pastor of the United Methodist Church in Sligo.

Interment will be held in the Sligo Cemetery.
