DUNNeleanorcEleanor C. Dunn, 77, a resident of 349 Warren Road, Franklin; died peacefully, yet unexpectedly at 9:30 AM Sunday, December 14, 2014 in home with her loving husband by her side.

She was born February 2, 1937 in Mercer, a beloved daughter of the late: Harold G. and Jessie E. Kremm Cousins.

She was a 1955 graduate of Mercer High School, and attended Slippery Rock University; where she earned her bachelor’s degree in education in 1959. While attending college, she had worked as a teller at the Mercer County State Bank & Trust Company.

She began her teaching career in English, at the high school level, with the Valley Grove Area School District in 1959. She subsequently retired from the Franklin Area School District English department in 1993; following more than 30 years of teaching. She will be fondly remembered by her many students and her presence will be deeply missed.

She was an active and faithful member of the Atlantic Avenue United Brethren Church in Franklin.

Mrs. Dunn was a member for many years of the UCIP (United Community Independent Programs) where she formerly had served on its Board of Directors. She was also a longtime member of the Pennsylvania State Teacher’s Association and enjoyed playing cards with the same group of her friends for many years.

She was married July 3, 1959 in the Lutheran Church of Grove City to Allen L. Dunn; who survives.

In addition to her beloved husband of 55 years, she is survived by a daughter: Kay Lou Dunn of Franklin and by a son: Jeffrey Dunn and his wife Glenda of Durham, NC; his step-daughter: Melissa Miscovich and her son: Mason.

Also surviving is her sister: Bernice Shaffer and her husband Don of Mercer, in addition to many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother: Guy G. Cousins and his wife Lois, and infant brother: Donald H. Cousins and by her sister: Dorothy E. Cousins.

Friends may call Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the Timothy E. Hartle Funeral Home, 1328 Elk Street, Franklin.

Family and friends may also call Friday from 10-11 AM in the Atlantic Avenue United Brethren Church, 160 Atlantic Avenue, Franklin. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11 AM in the church with Reverend Gary Small, senior pastor officiating.

Memorial contributions, if desired, may be directed in her name to either the Atlantic Avenue United Brethren Church or to the Salvation Army of Franklin, 737 Elk Street, Franklin, PA 16323.
