Karen was born in Franklin to Dick and Mary Reib. She graduated in 1964 from Franklin High School, and attended Clarion College.

Karen was married in November 1984 to Otis H. Barnes, who survives. Also surviving are her two sons, David (Linda) Jones of Lower Burrell, PA and their children, and Jeffrey Jones, of Pittsburgh, and his three sons.

Her survivors include 7 grandchildren, 3 step-children, and 3 step-grandchildren. She is additionally survived by her brother, Dick, and her sister-in-law, Kaycee Reib.

Karen worked for Franklin Steel in purchasing; Jamestown Paint as an outside sales person; Director of Forest County Planning and Development; and most recently with Fagan’s Lumber Supply as an office administrator.

She enjoyed delivering “Meals-on-Wheels”, working with the Red Cross, golf, and her sons many activities.

Karen died of complications from cancer and an automobile accident.

Family and friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc,, 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Monday, December 22nd from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 23rd at 11 a.m. with Father Richard Rowe, pastor of St. John’s Episcopal Church, officiating.

The family suggests that to honor Karen’s memory, memorial contributions may be sent to the Kirtland Cancer Foundation — PO Box 108, Franklin PA 16323.
