FOREST COUNTY, Pa. — The following press release was submitted by Forest County’s Second Annual Shop-With-A-Cop organizers:

On Sunday, December 14, the Sheriff and Deputies of the Forest County Sheriff’s Office, a DCNR Officer, a Pennsylvania Game Commission Officer, a Pennsylvania State Police Officer, and two Knox Borough Officers took 55 kids shopping for Forest County’s Second Annual Shop-With-A-Cop.

Even though this is our second year for the program, it is still overwhelming at the amount of support from not only the people and businesses in our county but from all over. We took in just over $8,000.00, which gave us the opportunity to take all 55 kids we received applications for shopping, give all of the families a complete Christmas Dinner, and treat the kids to McDonald’s before returning them home.

The kids along with the officers and many volunteers went shopping at WalMart in Clarion to buy such items as boots, shoes, coats, jeans, and presents for other family members and a toy for themselves. The excitement in the air from the kids is very contagious; it is wonderful to be able to spend a day just for them.

We here at the Forest County Sheriff’s office would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to all of the generous donors, the Forest County Commissioners, the officers that donated their time, and the many volunteers for making this program possible.

We look forward to continuing this program for many more years to come.
