BEAVER TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — According to Clarion-based State Police, around 1:35 p.m. on December 28, a one-vehicle accident occurred on Interstate 80 eastbound, at mile marker 56.6, in Beaver Township, Clarion County.
Police say 30-year-old Zarmeneh Aly, of Glen Oaks, NY, was traveling on I-80 East and drove off the left lane onto the north berm. Aly’s 2006 Toyota Highlander SUV swerved right across both lanes.
The vehicle impacted its front into a guard rail at the south berm.
Aly and a passenger, 63-year-old Nighat Taj, of Cleveland, OH, were injured in the collision.
No information was released on the extent of the injuries.
Aly was using a seat belt; Taj was not using a seat belt.
Two other passengers — 32-year-old Fanad Taj, of Cleveland, OH, and a one-year-old male — were uninjured. Fanad Taj was using a seat belt, and the infant was wearing child restraint.
The Toyota sustained major damage and was towed from the scene by Frye Towing.
