Family of Seven Loses Home in East Brady Fire; Donations Being Accepted

EAST BRADY, Pa. (EYT) – Fire destroyed an East Brady residence on Monday, leaving a family of seven homeless.

According to Clarion County 911, the fire was first reported around 10:39 a.m. at 805 First Avenue in East Brady.

Clarion-based State Police say the fire was sparked by an electrical malfunction in a downstairs bathroom.

The two-and-a-half story structure was the home of Mike and Stacey Slaughenhoupt.

Their four children and Stacey Slaughenhoupt’s 78-year-old mother, Marjorie E. Bailey, also lived in the home.

No one was injured in the fire.

Damage is estimated at approximately $100,000.

The fire was ruled accidental in nature, according to police.

East Brady Fire, Rimersburg Fire, Sugarcreek Fire, Chicora Fire, Petrolia Fire, Sligo Fire, and East Brady Ambulance responded to the scene. New Bethlehem Fire was also on standby.

Donations Being Accepted

Sligo Volunteer Fire Department will be accepting donations of clothing, household goods, furniture, and other items for the Slaughenhoupt family. Donations can be dropped off at the Fire Department on January 2 starting at 11 a.m. Sligo VFD is located at 408 Colerain Street.
