85-Year-Old Brookville Man Victim of Phone Scam

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Pa. (EYT) — DuBois-based State Police say an 85-year-old Brookville man is a victim of a phone scam that occurred on Richardsville Road, Warsaw Township, Jefferson County.

According to police, the elderly man was contacted by phone and advised that he had won a new car and 5.5 million dollars.

Police say the man was asked to send in fees on different occasions, which he obliged.

To date, he has sent in over $1,500.00 and has received no car or money, according to police.

The incident occurred between on December 1 and December 22.

The investigation continues.

Residents are urged to monitor their elderly relatives and send no money or money orders for these and other phone scams.
