Scan0001[1]Leah B. Brocious, 91, of Mayport, died Wednesday morning, December 31, 2014, at the Clarion Hospital.

Born on May 5, 1923 in Mahoning Township, Armstrong County, she was the daughter of the late Clifton and Sadie (Shreckengost) Copenhaver.

She was married on November 7, 1940 to Chester S. Brocious and he preceded her in death on March 5, 1992.

Leah was a homemaker and worked for Rola Jensen. She attended the Living Word International Church in Summerville. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She is survived by three daughters, Shirley Rupp and husband Bradley of Grove City, Joyce Evans of Mayport, and Marilyn “Snooks” Shoemaker and husband Jerry of New Bethlehem (Deanville); a son, Chester S. “Chet” Brocious, Jr. and wife Audrey of Fairmount City; thirteen grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; ten great great grandchildren; and three step great great grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Sarah Himes of Missouri; and a sister-in-law Carol Brocious of Smithland.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Leah was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Christy Doverspike; a son-in-law Boyce Evans, Sr.; five sisters, Ruby Fisher, Melezine Brocious, Vira Smith, Fonda Adams, and Sarah Lou Copenhaver; and a brother, James Copenhaver.

Leah’s wish was to be cremated and no memorial service. Interment will be in the Cedarview Memorial Park in Strattanville.

The family suggests that any memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
