Phyllis E. Jordan

Phyllis E. Jordan, 88, of Warren, PA and formerly of Knox, PA, died Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Cambridge Warren.

Phyllis was born May 18, 1926 in Turkey City, PA, the daughter of the late Robert F. and Minetta (Altman) Hale.

Phyllis was a graduate of St. Petersburg High School, and of Clarion State Teachers College, where she earned her B.S. in Education. She also did graduate work at Kent State University in History. She was employed as a first grade teacher for the St. Petersburg Richland Township School District for fifteen years, retiring to assist in the operation of her and her husband’s business, Jordan Hardware, in Knox, PA.

Phyllis was a life-long member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Order of the Eastern Star, and the Delta Zeta Sorority. She was also an avid reader, and enjoyed playing the piano and listening to her daughter play the piano whenever possible. Phyllis loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and will be deeply missed.

She is survived by one daughter, Julie A. Baughman and her husband Randy, of Warren; a brother, John Hale, of New Castle, PA. (Betty); a sister-in-law, Helen Hale, of Brockway, PA; three grandchildren, Lindsay Baughman of Erie, PA; Courtney Baughman of Meadville, PA, and Jordan Baughman of Warren; and several nieces and nephews.

Phyllis was preceded in death on January 23, 2010, by her husband, Paul L. Jordan; and a brother, James Hale.

A private memorial service will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Knox, PA, with The Rev. Karen Parsh, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Knox, PA
