Tire Blowout on I-80 Sends Minivan Spinning

MONROE TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — Clarion-based State Police say around 4:20 p.m. on January 4, a one-vehicle accident occurred on Interstate 80, in Monroe Township, Clarion County.

According to police, this crash occurred when Nancy McCausland, 54, of Camp Hill, Pa., was traveling westbound on I-80 in a 1999 Toyota Sienna.

Police say the right rear tire of the vehicle blew out, causing the vehicle to swerve left.

McCausland drove off the south berm and back onto the roadway before sliding sideways facing northeast across both west lanes and Exit 62 westbound on-ramp.

The vehicle impacted the guard rail with its left front and spun clockwise.

The vehicle impacted the guard rail with its left rear. It then spun coming to a rest with its rear against the guard rail and facing south across the exit 62 westbound on-ramp.

Nancy McClausland suffered minor injuries in the accident but was not transported from the scene.

There was one passenger in the vehicle: 19 year-old Sarah McClausland. She was uninjured in the crash.
