William W. “Bill” Matthews

Member_142181[1]William W. “Bill” Matthews, 82, of Master Rd., Emlenton, Richland Twp., Clarion Co., passed away Thursday, January 8, 2015 of natural causes at his home.

Born on April 26, 1932 in Oil City, William was the son of Raymond S. and Elizabeth Roberts Matthews.

Mr. Matthews attended St. Petersburg-Richland School. He was a member of Chapel on the Hill in Emlenton. Bill enjoyed fishing and woodworking. He retired from Timbler Packing in Knox.

He is survived by three children, Julia L. Brosnahan and her husband, Thomas, of St. Petersburg, Ken Matthews of Turkey City, and William T. Matthews of Emlenton; three grandchildren, Jason Rex of St. Petersburg, Autumn Rex of Tiffin, OH, Sarah Brosnahan Lemay of Phoenix, AZ; a sister, Ida Beels and her husband, William, of Slippery Rock, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mr. Matthews was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Matthews and a sister, Elizabeth “Betts” Krepp.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home Inc., 802 Grove St., St. Petersburg, from 6 – 8 p.m. Saturday and from Noon – 2:00 p.m. Sunday where a funeral will follow at 2:00 p.m. from the funeral home with the Rev. Chris Clark, pastor of Chapel on the Hill, officiating. Interment will be at Perryville Cemetery, Perry Twp.
