Allen “Harold” Wolfgong, Sr

Thumbnail[1]Allen “Harold” Wolfgong, Sr., 77, Rocky Grove, went to Heaven at 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday, January 14th, at UPMC Northwest.

Harold was born July 16, 1937 in Shannondale, Clarion County, and was the son of the late Cyrus and Edna Seigworth Wolfgong. He was a Peacetime Army Veteran, having served from 1960 to 1966.

Harold worked at Leech Carbide in Meadville. After his retirement, he worked part-time at Bower Industries as a machinist. He also had worked as a truck driver for Curtis Baker Lumber Company and as a custodian for the Franklin Alliance Church, of which he was also a very active member. Harold enjoyed fishing, “tinkering” in his garage, and playing horseshoes with his oldest son, Allen. He was an avid collector. He especially cherished the times he spent with his family.

Harold is survived by his sons, Allen Wolfgong, Jr. and his wife, Dawn, of Franklin, and Edward Wolfgong and his wife, Melissa, of Oil City; his daughter, Susan Fox and her husband, Adam, of Franklin; his grandchildren, Justin Wolfgong and his wife, Amanda, of Franklin, Jessica Wolfgong of Franklin and her fiance’, Patrick McGinty, Evan Wolfgong of Oil City, and Noah Fox and Kylie Fox, both of Franklin; and his great-grandchildren, Mayken, Talon and Ashton Wolfgong, all of Franklin.

He is also survived by his brothers, Thomas Wolfgong of Delaware, NJ, Dean Wolfgong and his wife, Francine, of Emlenton, Wayne Wolfgong and his wife, Christina, of Greenville, Larry Wolfgong and his wife, Mary Ann, of Oil City, and Timothy Wolfgong and his wife, Jan, also of Oil City; and his sister, Letha McGarry and her husband, Dan, of Seneca.

Harold is additionally survived by his sister-in-law, Barbara Wolfgong of Franklin.

In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his brother, James Wolfgong.

Family and friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Saturday, January 17 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home following visitation at 1 p.m., with Rev. Scott Woodlee, pastor of the Franklin Alliance Church, officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Garden.
