Betty A. Pennington Holliday

OI1236182356_BettyHolliday001[1]Betty A. Pennington Holliday, 87, of Dutch Hill, Parker, Pa. passed away at 12:30 AM Thursday morning (01-15-15) at her residence following a several months illness.

Born in Eldorado, Butler Co., Pa. on October 17, 1927, she was daughter of Clyde and Estelle Pennington. She was raised by late step-mother, Ivy Pennington Merryman.

Protestant by faith, Betty enjoyed reading her bible and telling others what she had learned.

Her family was her life, and that included teaching her family her recipes, especially her bread-baking methods which were well known by all.

Surviving are three daughters: Patty King of Cleveland, TN., Vickie Weigle of Parker, and Kay Peden of Lyman, WI.; four sons: Archhie, Jr. of Parker, Bill (Linda) of Emlenton, Jeff of Cleveland, TN., and Tim (Patty) of Grove City (all Holliday).

Also surviving are seventeen grandchildren, thirty seven great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews. Survived by three brothers: Melvin (Susan) Pennington of Palmyra, Pa., Jim (Bev) Pennington of Volant, and Jim (Joan) Adams of Johnstown; one special sister-in-law: Betty McCandless Sacks.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Holliday, Sr. whom she married Mar. 17, 1946 and who passed away Dec. 13, 2004. Also preceded by daughter Kathy Leopold in 1999, granddaughter Kim Harrison in 2007, grandson Kevin Runyan in 1970, and great grandson Devon Parker. Also preceded by siblings John (Gus) Pennington, Louise Myers, Irma Polansky, and Dorothy Shay as well as daughter-in-law Sandra Holliday and sons-in-law Richard Weigle and David King.

Visitation will be Noon to 4:00 PM Saturday at West Freedom United Methodist, near Parker.

Funeral service at 4:00 PM at church with Pastor Randy Evans, Clarion-Forest Hospice Chaplain, officiating.

Burial will be at 9:00 AM Monday at Perryville Cemetery, near Parker.
