Deane-Goodwin-1421590448[1]Deane P. Goodwin, 61, of Oil City, passed on to eternal rest on Friday, January 16, 2015 at his home surrounded by beloved family members.

Deane was born on January 23, 1953 in Johnson City NY to Laurence S. and Beverly Goodwin. He was raised in the Allentown PA area.

Deane married his best friend, Kathryn L. (Jacobe) Goodwin, on May 22, 1979, who survives.

Deane was a man of many interests throughout his professional career, most of which he spent working with troubled youth. He held a special place in his heart for listening and aiding in their recovery. Deane also enjoyed freelancing in the fantasy role playing and war gaming industry, and developed a passion for painting miniatures. Deane had a curious mind and was an avid reader with a wide range of knowledge. He was a published writer in gaming materials and poetry; he also enjoyed participating in public readings. Throughout Deane’s inner circle of family and friends he was known for his culinary expertise.

Deane was most proud of his children and admired their accomplishments, especially their success in becoming responsible caring adults. He is survived by Ian (Niki) Goodwin of Tyrone PA, Alethea (Nathan) McLaughlin of Seneca PA, Rebecca (Curtis J.) Bish of Oil City PA, and Diana Goodwin of Muncie IN. He was preceded in death by a son, Shawn P. Goodwin.

Deane is survived by 6 grandchildren Caleb and Katelyn Bish of Oil City PA, Sidney Goodwin of Tyrone PA, Alex McLaughlin of Seneca PA, and Levi and Willow Vallad of Muncie IN.

Deane is also survived by a brother in law, John (Jill) Jacobe of Bolingbrook IL, a great friend Rodrick (Susan) Campbell, a brother Michael Heeley, a special aunt, Susan Goodwin, and many extended family members and friends.

Deane’s family are grateful for the many prayers, expressions of support and love extended to them by family and friends. Mostly they are grateful for the strong presence that Deane provided to them throughout his life.

Friends and family are invited to gather in celebration of Deane’s life at his home, 317 W. Third Street, Oil City, PA from 4-7 PM on Friday January 23, 2015.
