Member_142520[1]Freda E. Moyer, 94, of Oil City, formerly of Knox, went to be with the Lord Saturday evening, January 17, 2015 at Oakwood Heights.

Mrs. Moyer was born in the village of Van, Cranberry Twp., on March 4, 1920. She was the daughter of John LeRoy and Angeline Culp O’Neil.

Freda was a long time active member of the Oil City Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, where she and her late husband were active in the church choir and youth ministries.

Mrs. Moyer was a homemaker and enjoyed entertaining and visiting with guests in her home. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crocheting. Mrs. Moyer was a talented seamstress and did alterations for many friends and acquaintances. In her earlier years she had worked as a nurses aid at Oil City Hospital.

She was married on June 2, 1940 to William J. “Bill” Moyer. He preceded her in death on February 23, 1996.

Surviving are two grandchildren, Marilyn L. Feely and her husband, Don, of Oil City and Andrew D. Mullen and his wife, Ammy, of Englewood, FL; a great granddaughter, Danielle Feely and her fiancé, Matt Hansen, both of Oil City; a great great granddaughter, Bailey Wyant of Oil City; a brother, Russell O’Neil and his wife, Nancy, of Zephyrhills, FL; two sisters, Kay Gilmore and her husband, Fred, of Lucinda and Sue Lineman and her husband, Chuck, of Cranberry; a son-in-law, Ken Mullen and his wife, Marian, of Emlenton, as well as a number of nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Karl “Buddy” Shirey of Pittsburgh.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Freda Mae Mullen; four brothers, John Jr., Merle, Daniel, and William “Bill” O’Neil, and two sisters, Mary Henderson and Shirley Shirey Whitling.

Friends will be received at the Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rt. 257, Seneca, from 4 – 7 p.m. Tuesday.

A funeral service will be held from the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Bruce Davis, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, Oil City, officiating.

Interment will be in Knox Union Cemetery, Knox.
