Quinn to Run for Clarion County Commissioner, Questions Use of Annex Project Funds

CLARION, Pa. (EYT) – Republican Edie (Edith) Quinn has announced her candidacy for Clarion County Commissioner in the May 19 Primary Election.

In a release issued on Monday evening, Quinn states, “Over $300,000.00 has been used on the Annex/Courthouse project. There is a need to ‘revitalize’ the courthouse and making accommodations for such renovations and other needs of departments can’t be overlooked, but has this been the wisest use of those funds? Other county buildings are in need of attention as well.”

“We have to find solutions/remedies to these situations and the commissioners need to employ the resources available through public input as well as private engineering firms,” said Quinn.

“We need to work closely with Economic Development, Planning, and any other agencies to try to bring industry, companies, and business to the County. Township supervisors and local businessmen have a wealth of knowledge that should be put to use.”

Quinn also says County Commissioners have a duty to be open and honest with the public.

“The county’s website and budget should be updated as often as possible and made open for the public’s concerns. People have the right to know how much is in the General Fund, Reserve Accounts, and what is earmarked for each department. Meeting Agendas should be posted.”

“The county has a vast array of problems from rampant drug abuse to building concerns, to the over all business climate. I would like the chance to do what I can to help make a better Clarion County for the future,” said Quinn.

Quinn says her career and work experience in Accounts Payable with the Pepsi Corporation, as a Night Auditor with the Holiday Inn Corporation, and 21 years of service in the Allegheny County Courts as an Administrative Assistant and Tip Staff/Bailiff have given her the background to assist her in the duties of County Commissioner.

She also cites her time spent serving as Republican Committee Secretary and Committeewoman.

Edie is a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Clarion.

She lives on Asbury Road in Clarion Township with her husband Duane.
