William Stephen Fejes

William Stephen Fejes, 94, of Carlton and a resident of Rolling Fields Nursing Home in Conneautville, for the past year, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015, at the home.

Born Dec. 6, 1920, in Brownsville, he was a son of Steve and Mary Langyl Fejes. He married Mary Esther Weinman on April 16, 1942, and she preceded him in death on April 13, 1991.

He was a 1938 graduate of Cochranton High School.

In January 1941 Bill enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a tech3 mechanic during World War II, stationed in Europe and also the Philippines. He was honorably discharged in February of 1946.

Returning from the war, he began working at the former American Viscose in Meadville. He retired as a printer at Morco Inc., in Cochranton and earlier in life, operated a dairy farm.

He was a member of the Cochranton Masonic Lodge 790. The Zem Zem Shrine in Erie, the New Castle Consistory, the former Meadville York Rite Bodies (presently the Greenville York Rite Bodies). He was the past president of the Crawford County Shrine Club, past president of the Crawford County Motor Patrol and was a volunteer driver for Shriner’s Children Hospital.

Bill served as the secretary of the Mill Creek Cemetery Company for 50 years, was a life member of the Cochranton Sportsmen’s Club and the Cochranton American Legion Post 836, the Meadville Elks and the Cochranton Presbyterian Church.

He enjoyed puttering in his shop, reading, watching cowboy movies and spending time with his family.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Roch’e and her husband, Bryan, of Carlton, and a son, Richard Fejes and his wife, Pat, of Montague, N.J.; grandchildren, Steve Fejes and his wife, Jaymee, Stacey Helton and her husband, Brandon, Jason Roch’e, Adam Roch’e, and Heidi Elliot and her husband, Jay; and three great-grandchildren, Samantha Fejes, Jackson Helton and Emerson Elliott; three sisters, Emma Phelps of Wilbraham, Mass., Jenny Toth of Rochester, N.Y., and Evelyn Hall of Hadley; a niece, Barb LeClerc, and nephews, Louis, Greg and Rich Toth, Steve Phelps, Bob Fejes and Scott Hall; and a sister-in-law, Helen Fejes of Paducah, Ky.
