3248088Grace M. Eck Aymong, 86, of Erie, was taken from this life on Wednesday January 28, 2015, surrounded by her family.

Born December 7, 1928 in Fryburg, PA, Clarion County, she was the daughter of the late Augusta (Siegel) Eck and Thomas Eck.
Grace was employed at GTE as a telephone operator for 37 years, retiring in 1991. She was a prolific reader, enjoyed completing crossword puzzles and loved spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, John L. Aymong, who died in 2003; an infant son, Stephen Aymong; a sister, Mary Port; six brothers, Edward, John, Robert, Richard, LeRoy and James Eck.
Survivors include her daughter, Jacquelyn Kuneman of Erie; two sons, John M. Aymong (Carly) of Rochester, NY and Rick Aymong of Corry; two sisters, Rita Schaffer (Rich) of Tionesta and Sr. M. Joseph Eck, OLC, of Carrollton, OH; three brothers, Paul Eck (Nancy), Bern Eck (Kay) and George Eck, all of Tionesta; a sister in law, Dorothy Baressi of Corry; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by grandchildren, Heather Lozowski (Robert) of Cranberry Twp., Amy Kuneman (Jack Marchinetti) of Waterford, Michael Kuneman (Ashley) of Erie, and John M. Aymong of Austin, TX and her beloved great grandchildren, Zachary, Julia, and Nicholas Lozowski.

The family would like to express a special thanks to the doctors, nurses and aides from the ICU at St. Vincent Health Center, who treated her with professionalism, skill, expertise and compassion.

Honoring her wishes, there will be no calling hours. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Monday at 1:00 p.m. followed by entombment in Gate of Heaven Mausoleum.

Funeral arrangements were made by the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., Erie, 16504.
