Richard W. McClelland

Richard W. McClelland, 66, a resident of 1485 Old Route 322, Cochranton died peacefully at 8:30 AM Monday, February 2, 2015 at his residence; following a period of declining health.

He was born July 8, 1948 in Franklin, a beloved son of Marjorie E. McClelland.

He was a 1967 graduate of Franklin High School.

He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War era, as a member of the U.S. Army. He earned rank of SP5; prior to his honorable discharge from active duty.

For service to his country, he was awarded The National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the U.S. Army Commendation Medal.

Following his military discharge, he had worked as a truck driver and R.S.A. at Polk Center; retiring in 2004 following 35 years of service.

He was a longtime member of the National Rifle Association.

Mr. McClelland was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying camping and fishing. He was a diehard Pittsburgh Steeler’s fan and enjoyed following NASCAR racing.

He was of the Presbyterian faith.

He is survived by two daughters: Misty K. McClelland of Woodstock, GA and Mary B. Teren and her husband David of Powder Springs, GA and by one son: Cory J. McClelland and his wife Sharon, also of Woodstock, GA.

Also surviving is his mother: Marjorie E. Keller of Franklin; his friend and companion: Sally A. Baker, with whom he made his home and two special aunts: Wilda and Phyllis McClelland, both of Franklin.

He was preceded in death by his sister: Darlene S. Theuret.

In accordance of his wishes, there will be no public visitation.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service in celebration of his life, Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at 2 PM in the Chapel of The Caring Place, 103 N. 13th Street, Franklin; with Reverend Randy Kightlinger, chaplain of the Venango County V.N.A. Hospice, officiating.

Private interment will be in Graham Cemetery.
