Thumbnail (1)Burton “Jack” L. McCall, 83, of Franklin passed away at 2:00 a.m. at his residence on Sunday, February 8th.

Born in Cherrytree Township on July 8, 1931, Burton was the son of the late Merle and Mildred Douglas McCall. He was married to the former Cora Braden on November 6, 1954, and she survives.

Burton was a Korean War Veteran, having served from November 20, 1952 to September 15, 1954. He retired in 1993 from Frontier Foundry where he had worked for 6 years as a coremaker. Prior to working at the Foundry, Burton worked at CPT, for Erie Lackawanna Railroad for 8 years as a Car and Train Helper, and also for Oil Well Supply.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, landscaping, and playing horseshoes and dominoes. Burton especially enjoyed and cherished the time he spent with his family and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Cora, Burton is survived by his 3 daughters, Diana Baker and her husband, Christopher, of Franklin, Kimberly Johnson and her husband, James, of Franklin, and Tammey Miller and her husband, Gerald “Jay”, of Hilliards; his 4 grandchildren, Tabetha Sterling and her companion, Nate Beggs, of Franklin, Matthew Sterling and his companion, Brittany Stricklen, of Franklin, Kadance Miller of Hilliards, and Danielle Miller and her companion, Robert Moore, of New Port News, VA; and his4 great-grandchildren, Michaela Savada, Mikenzie Savada, Asher Sterling, and Katie Beggs, all of Franklin.

He is also survived by his brother, Leon McCall and his wife, Connie, of Meadville; his sister, Betty McCain of of Titusville; his step-brother, Ralph Deeter and his wife, Pam, of Cherrytree; and his brother-in-law, Francis Kinney of Spartansburg.

In addition to his parents, Burton was preceded in death by his 2 step-fathers, William Kope and Jud Deeter; his brother, Merle McCall, Jr.; his sister, Louella Kinney; and an infant grandchild.

Family and friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Tuesday, February 10th from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 11th with Rev. Mark Rusnek, AseraCare Hospice Pastor, officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard. Interment will follow in Lamey Cemetery.
