ThumbnailEvelyn F. Burchfield, 91, formerly of Franklin, passed away at 2:45 a.m. at Wesbury United Methodist Community in Meadville where she had resided for the past several years.

Born in Foxburg on February 1, 1924, Evelyn was the daughter of the late John L. and Maude Stover Fulmer. She married Norman C. Burchfield on May 27, 1949 and he preceded her in death on July 23, 1982.

In 1928 Evelyn’s family moved to Franklin. She was a 1941 graduate of Franklin High School. Throughout the years, she worked at several different places as a bookkeeper. She first worked at J.T. Campbell and Son Department Store and then later at Shaw Industries. After retiring from Chicago Pneumatic Tool Company, she then worked for many years at the Venango Historical Society.

Evelyn was a long-time active member of Christ United Methodist Church — she was the church pianist for more than 20 years and a Sunday School teacher for more than 30 years. While her husband was still living, she enjoyed traveling with him.

Evelyn is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her 2 sisters, Gladys F. O’Neil and Myrtle F. Lepley; and her 3 brothers, Harry L. Fulmer, Donald E. Fulmer and Glenn A. Fulmer.

Family and friends of Evelyn will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Friday, February 13th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday, February 14th at 11 a.m. with Rev. David Janz, pastor of Christ United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.
