Son of Betty Jane Rial Plumer Gressley and Ralph C. Plumer, brother to Patty Sue Plumer Campagna, step-brother to Francis and Jerome Gressley and Karen Gressley Neuroh, husband to Patricia, father to Caroline, Erika and Jennifer, father-in-law to Daniel, Justin and Robert and grandfather to Jake and Nicholas.

Rick graduated from Franklin High School in 1958.

He succumbed to cancer, after a long battle which he fought with his trademark qualities — dignity, quiet strength and determination. Rick was a strong, reliable, generous, funny, smart, kind man who was loved and respected by all those fortunate enough to call him friend. He was a great man. He made a difference in many lives, during his tenure at Trinity Church Manhattan from 1967 to 1990, including his role as Controller from 1979 to 1990, and by simply being himself. His love for his family was only matched by their love for him. His passing leaves a void in many hearts. T
