Bruce E. Kline

Bruce E. Kline, 87, of 11425 Hunters Ridge Blvd., Meadville, formerly of Titusville, went home to be with his Lord Friday morning February 13, 2015 at the Meadville Medical Center following a period of declining health.

Bruce was born on October 31, 1927 in Titusville, a son of the late Lawrence and Thressa Pringle Kline. He was married to Amy Joan Meabon on September 21, 1951 in Titusville.

Bruce was a graduate of Colestock High School in Titusville, class of 1945. He attended Penn State University and was a graduate of the Bryand Stratton Business College in Buffalo, NY. He was employed for over 40 years at the former Cytemp Specialty Steel Corp. in Titusville working in the purchasing, production control, traffic, and shipping departments. He retired in June 1991.

Bruce was a veteran having served in the US Navy during World War II from March 1946 to December 1947. He was stationed in San Diego, CA as an aviation electrician on aircraft carriers.

He was a member of the Titusville First United Methodist Church. As a member, he served on various boards, taught youth and adult Sunday School, was on the Boy Scout committee, and active with the Methodist Men for over fifty years. While living in Meadville, he attended Trinity United Methodist Church in Conneaut Lake. He was a member of the Titusville Lodge No.754 F. & A.M. and of the Oil City Lodge of Perfection, both for over 60 years. He was also a member of the New Castle Consistory where he earned his thirty second degree.

He was also a former member of the Titusville YMCA; the Shade Tree Commission; and the former Salvation Army Board. He was past president of two area Traffic Clubs: Oil City-Franklin and Meadville. He was also a member of Cyclops Quarter Century Club. As a member of the Over The Hill Gang, he helped to maintain hiking trails at Oil Creek State Park.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Joan, of 63 years; three sons, Stephen Kline and wife Karen of Pottstown, PA; Duane Kline and wife Cindi of Hydetown, PA; and Alan Kline and wife Nancy of Tampa, FL; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; and 6 step-great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Lorraine; a granddaughter, Elisa Marie Kline; and a sister, Jane Kerr.

Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Members of the Titusville Lodge No.754 F. & A.M. will conduct a memorial service at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The funeral service will be conducted on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church 302 W. Walnut St. Titusville, PA with Rev. Ron Hipwell, pastor, and Rev. Greg Spencer, officiating.

Interment will be in Union Cemetery at Bethel.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the First United Methodist Church of Titusville.
