McCleary PhotoKathryn S. (Varner) McCleary of Miola passed away on February 16, 2015 at the Clarion Hospital following a sudden illness at the age of 82.

Kate recently resided at Golden Living Center in Shippenville.

Born on November 19, 1932, in Monroe Township, Clarion County, to William F. and Minnie L. (Best) Varner, Kate was one of five siblings. In addition to her parents, two brothers, Harold Benn and William Varner, and two sisters, Marian Kiser and Helen Myers have preceded her in death.

On July 13, 1957, Kate was married to Clarence Richard McCleary, who has also preceded her in death. She was a member of the Shiloh Presbyterian Church in Miola. She enjoyed her computer, crossword puzzles, knitting and her grandchildren.

Kate is survived by three children, Deborah Lauer and husband Gary of Miola, Richard McCleary of Uniontown, OH, and Thomas McCleary and wife Jennifer of Clarion. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Brian Lauer and Christie Stewart, Tina Bridge and husband James, Kirstyn McCleary, C.J. McCleary, Tyler Nogel, Ariel McCleary, Jacob McCleary, and Erin McCleary; along with two great-grandchildren, Abbey Jones and Henry Bridge.

Kate’s family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the nursing staff of the Intensive Care Unit at Clarion Hospital.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Charitable Deeds and Services, 260 Highpoint Rd, Knox PA 16232.

Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood Street in Clarion where visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, February 18. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, February 19 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Scott Hauser of the First Presbyterian Church of Clarion officiating. Interment will be in the Miola Cemetery.
