Icy Roadway Causes Crash in Richland Township, Driver Escapes Injury

RICHLAND TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — Clarion-based State Police say a one-vehicle accident occurred around 6:05 p.m. February 15, on Interstate 80, in Richland Township, Clarion County.

According to police, the crash occurred as Brittany A. Popham, 25, of Floresville, TX, was traveling west on I-80 in the left lane.

She lost control of her 2009 Ford Mustang after hitting an ice patch. The car then slid into the right lane and slammed into the guide rail head-on, police say.

After striking the guide rail, the Mustang rotated and struck the guide rail again with it’s 7 o’clock position, according to police.

Popham was uninjured in the crash; she was using a seat belt.

The Ford Mustang was towed by Hovis Towing.

PSP Clarion were assisted at the scene by Clarion Co. Ambulance Services and Hovis Towing.
