Driver Falls Asleep at Wheel, Slams into Tree in Piney Township

PINEY TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — Clarion-based State Police say a Hit and Run occurred around 1:30 a.m. on February 21, on Huckleberry Ridge Road, 2428 feet south of Mauthe Road, in Piney Township, Clarion County.

According to police, 23-year-old Benjamin J. Aaron, of Shippenville, was traveling north on Huckleberry Ridge Road and traveled off the eastbound side of the roadway. His 2013 Jeep Wrangler impacted a tree.

Police say the accident was a result of Aaron falling asleep.

Aaron fled the scene and was later located, according to police.

He suffered minor injuries.

Several traffic citations were filed through Magistrate 18-3-04, police say.
