James-Dehner-1424707159James A. Dehner, 73, of 911 E Second St, Oil City, died at 3:35 pm, Sunday, February 22, 2015, at the Clarion Hospital, after a short illness.

Born January 18, 1942 in Oil City, he was a son of the late Vaughn and Helen Kuhls Dehner.

Jim was a 1960 graduate of Oil City High School.

He served in the US Army from 1962 to 1965, as a paratrooper in the 82nd Air Borne and the 8th Special Forces stationed in Panama.

Jim retired from PennDOT after 30 years of service.

He enjoyed spending time at his cottage along the Allegheny River, and feeding and caring for all the animals nearby. He loved fishing and boating there and visiting with friends and family there.

On May 9, 1964 he married his high school sweetheart, Helen Ann McMahon, who survives. They just celebrated their 50th anniversary.

In addition to his wife, surviving are three children, Julie Botts (Rob) of Oil City, James W. Dehner (Bonnie) of Weirton WV, and Daniel A. Dehner (Aly) of Pittsburgh; six grandchildren, Daniel Kitelinger, Melissa Kitelinger, Logan Botts, Cameron Andrews, Vaughn Dehner and Violet Dehner.

Also surviving are one brother, Robert Dehner (Sona) of Shreveport LA; two sisters, Sue Ann Miller (Denny) of Sandy Lake, and Diane Andres (Larry) Of Oil City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Morrison Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2 to 4 pm.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 4 pm with the Rev. Gale Boocks, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Venango County Humane Society.
