Jesse B. Miller

thumbsJesse B. Miller, 88, of Mayport, Redbank Township, Armstrong County, went home to be with the Lord at 3:15 a.m. on February 24, 2015 at Sugar Creek Rest Home, Worthington, Pa.

Born December 5, 1926 in Armstrong County, he was the son of the late Rev. C. Fred and Sylvia Johns Miller.

Mr. Miller was a member of the Cornerstone Church of God, Fairmount City, and also taught Sunday School at the former Church of God in Fairmount City.

Mr. Miller worked in the coal mines in Clarion and Armstrong County in his early days and became a truck driver, owning his own rig and retired from truck driving at the end of 1988. In his retirement years he enjoyed hunting small and big game. In his younger days he was a great marksman and bow and arrow shooter. He collected many trophies before he was 40 years old. He loved groundhog hunting with his biggest bag of groundhogs in one year of over 35. Farmers loved that. He was a very true Christian and loved the Lord. He loved to visit with people and never was in a hurry to step away. During his working years he had many fishing trips to Canada and made many vacation trips to Florida. He also tried his hand at Elk Hunting in Colorado several times.

Mr. Miller is survived by a brother, C. Marvin Miller of Mayport; a sister June Avanelle Fox and her husband Robert L. Fox of Rimersburg; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Miller is was preceded in death by one brother Delmar Miller, one sister Catherine Leotta Ellenberger and one nephew Donald Miller and a life long friend S. G. Myers.

Friends will be received Saturday, February 28, 2015 from 11 to 1, at the Cornerstone Church of God in Fairmount City (Alcola). Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the church, with Pastor Mike Hicks officiating. Interment will be in the Mount Zion Cemetery, Mahoning Twp, Armstrong County.
