‘Comfort Chemo Bags’ Donated to Cancer Center at Clarion Hospital

CLARION, Pa. (EYT) – Tina Meeker, independent “Thirty-One” consultant, a direct sales company, recently delivered 31 “comfort chemo bags” to patients of the Cancer Center at Clarion Hospital.

The donated bags include various goodies that will comfort and be used by the patients as they receive treatment.  Meeker asked thirty-one people in the community to sponsor the bags and the included items, and she had no problems in finding supporters.  One mother donated a bag in honor of her daughter.

“I’m from the Rimersburg area, and I know there are a lot of people who have been affected by cancer, including loved ones,” said Meeker. “In my family alone, I’ve had eight different members battle cancer. It was something close to my heart, and I talked to some other consultants on how they were doing cancer bags and thought it would be a good idea to try here.”

The bags have been a real hit with patients at the Cancer Center.

“I was just so touched that she did that, and the patients are absolutely loving them,” said Cancer Center Manager Tracy Myers.

“We’ve been passing them out to anybody that’s currently on treatment. I was just in awe that 31 people would quickly sponsor a bag and the goodies to put in them.  Goodies included blankets, soft socks that they could wear, puzzle books for while they’re here, snacks, and just really thoughtful little items.  It’s nice to have a bag like that because then they can bring things with them when they come for their treatment. Some of the ladies will knit and do different things, and they can just keep things organized in the little bags.”

Meeker said the gifts would not have been possible without the sponsors of the individual bags.

“They wouldn’t have been possible just by myself,” said Meeker.  “I was really just amazed at how people stepped up to sponsor the bags.”

“The whole thing was just heartfelt and special,” said Myers.  “We owe a big thank you to Tina and all of the community members who decided to sponsor a bag. The whole thing was just heartfelt and special. You have put smiles on the faces of many people.”
