Nicholas F. Gavazzi

headshot_2_gavazziNicholas F. Gavazzi, 18 of Charleroi, PA died Monday, February 23, 2015 of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Armstrong County.

He was born May 21, 1996 in Monongahela, PA a son of the late Monica Boyd Gavazzi and Robert A. Gavazzi of Charleroi who survives.

Nicholas was a 2014 graduate of Charleroi Area High School where he was class Valedictorian and was currently attending Clarion University of Pennsylvania.

Nick was an outstanding student in both college and high school as well as a dedicated championship wrestler.

In his lifetime he received many awards for academic achievement as well as numerous awards for wrestling.

In his short lifetime he was the epitome of a loving son, brother, friend, student and athlete. Nicholas was a lifetime member of the Mary Mother of the Church, Charleroi, PA.

He was an active member of the Quest Wresting Sports Club, Washington, PA.

Surviving in addition to his father is his step-mother, Kathy Gavazzi of Charleroi, PA; three siblings, Casey Gavazzi (Kristyn), Shellie Smith (Justin) both of Charleroi, PA and Robert Cotton (Michelle) of Edinborough, PA; paternal grandparents, Robert and Pat Gavazzi of Cokeburg, PA; maternal grandmother, Theresa Boyd of Canonsburg, PA; special aunts and uncle Marlene and Donald McFeeley of Bentleyville, PA and Beth Navarat of Ellsworth, PA; four nieces and one nephew and the Burns and Deutsch families; his girlfriend, Kati Lee of Charleroi, PA. Deceased in addition to his mother is a special cousin, Jonathan Navarat.

Friends will be received Thursday from 6 to 9 P.M. and Friday from 2 to 8 P.M. in the Greenlee Funeral Home, 619 Main Street, Bentleyville, PA.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. in the Mary Mother of the Church, 624 Washington Avenue, Charleroi, PA with Rev. Gerald Mikonis officiating.

Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Monongahela, Pa.

Friends are asked to go directly to the church for the Mass.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to Quest, 264 Munce Road, Washington, PA 15301.

The contributions will be used to establish a scholarship fund for wrestlers in the name of Nicholas Gavazzi.
