Thumbnail (1)Wayne A. Rossman, 83, of Franklin, passed away at 4:33 p.m. on Tuesday, February 24th, at UPMC-Northwest in Seneca after a lingering illness.

Born May 1, 1931 in Franklin, Wayne was the beloved son of the late Charles Edward and Claira Bell Hart Rossman, and the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Mr. Rossman finished 11th grade at Rocky Grove High School. He married Frances A. Rossman and moved to Titusville, where he worked at Cyclops for many years. He and Frances had 2 daughters, Phyllis Ann and Becky Ann. They also had an infant daughter, who lived to be a month old.

In 1960, Wayne and his wife, Frances, moved to San Diego, CA, where he worked for the Orange Empire Grocery Chain for 28 years. He also was the manger of the Orange Tree Trailer Park where he and his family lived.

On September 4, 2003, Wayne married Joyce M. Cutchall Rossman who survives.

When his health permitted, Wayne enjoyed woodworking and building, working in his garage and “fixing up” around the house, reading and watching “Jeopardy” on T.V. He also enjoyed spending time outside in his garden, attending the local softball and baseball games, listening to the Silver Cornet Band, and taking walks with his wife. Wayne especially enjoyed “eating out” and spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, Joyce, Mr. Rossman is survived by his 2 daughters, Phyllis aAnn Nelson and her husband, Ken, and Becky Ann Degado and her husband, Gene, all of California. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Mr. Rossman was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, his brothers, Ted, Charles, Rev. Robert, James, and Marshall; and his sisters, Helen, Bess, and Mae (Viola).

A Memorial Service for Mr. Rossman will be held at a later date. The Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, will be handling arrangements.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Mr. Rossman’s to the Salvation Army — 16 Spring Street, Oil City, PA 16301 and/or The Venango County Humane Society — PO Box 1045, Oil City, PA 16301.
