JENKS TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — Marienville-based State Police say a hit and run accident occurred on State Route 66, at its intersection with old Route 899, in Jenks Township, Forest County.

According to police, 76-year-old Richard Rusek, of New Kensington, and 36-year-old Billie Sheehy, of Coudersport, were involved in the collision.

Police say Sheehy was traveling south on Route 66 in a 2004 Pontiac Vibe.

A 2012 Chevrolet Sonic was entering Route 66 from the west side heading north and traveled into the path of Sheehy’s vehicle. The Pontiac struck the Chevrolet in the left side rear with its left front, according to police.

Both vehicles entered Ray’s Hot Spot parking lot to exchange information. When Sheehy stated she was calling the police, Rusek allegedly fled the scene, failing to give her information, police say.

Sheehy was able to get the plate number from the Chevrolet and identified the driver, according to police.

Sheehy and her passenger, 62-year-old Sharon K. Wilson, of Coudersport, were using seat belts and were not injured.

Rusek escaped injuries in the collision, police say.

It is unknown whether Rusek was using a seat belt.

The investigation is continuing, and charges are pending.
