ROCKLAND TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — Franklin-based State Police say a one-vehicle crash involving two Knox teens occurred around 10:10 p.m. on March 15, in Rockland Township, Venango County.

According to police, the crash occurred as a 17-year-old male driver, of Knox, was traveling westbound on State Route 322 near Hepler Road.

The driver hit a patch of ice and lost control of his 2006 Dodge Ram, police say.

The driver attempted to counter-steer the vehicle after it began to slide and then slammed into an embankment on the north side of the roadway and overturned, according to police.

The vehicle rolled one time before coming to a final rest on its passenger side, police say.

The driver was able to climb out of the driver’s side rear window. A 16-year-old female passenger, of Knox, had to be cut out of the vehicle by emergency crews, according to police.

The driver and the passenger were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash and suffered minor injuries, police say.

Both were transported to UPMC Northwest hospital by Community Ambulance for treatment.

The driver was cited with a traffic violation, according to police.

PSP Franklin were assisted at the scene by Rockland Volunteer Fire Department, Seneca Volunteer Fire Department, and Jeff’s Towing.
