Vehicle Slides on Black Ice on Route 68, Slams into Utility Pole

TOBY TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — Clarion-based State Police say around 10:16 p.m. on March 15, a one-vehicle accident occurred on State Route 68, 459 feet south of Curllsville Road, in Toby Township, Clarion County.

According to police, 18-year-old Christian J. Shimmons, of Sligo, was traveling east on SR 68 and lost control of his 2002 Dodge Dakota when it began sliding on black ice.

Police say the vehicle traveled off the south side of the roadway and impacted a utility pole, causing damage.

Shimmons was using a seat belt and was not injured.

Rimersburg Volunteer Fire Department and Horvath’s Towing assisted at the scene.
