Laura Irene Bennett, 83, of Pontiac, passed away Monday, March 16, 2015 at 1:40 a.m. at Evenglow Lodge Tjardes Health Center in Pontiac, IL.

Cremation rites will be accorded.

Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home, Pontiac, is in charge of arrangements.

Laura was born November 20, 1931 in Oil City, PA, daughter of Waldemar and Florence (White) Kay.

She married Harold Arthur Bennett on September 1, 1950 in Oil City, PA.

He passed away April 2, 2011.

She is survived by her sons, Bradley (Laurie) Bennett of Montello, WI and Douglas (Jeanette) Bennett of Pontiac, IL; daughters, Micky (Ralph) LaBedz of Johnsburg, IL, Suzanne (Frank) Jadron of Minooka, IL, Terri (Terry) Christopher of Marseilles, IL, and Tina (Greg) Duffy of Pontiac, IL; brother, Gregory Kay of Roswell, NM; 15 grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; four brothers, Waldemar Kay, Fredrick Kay, Henry Kay, and John Kay; six sisters, Joanna Rivers, Jesse Lingler, Florence Laughenberg, Mable Baughman, Nancy Silves and Marion Stewart; and one great grandchild, Dallas Patterson.

Laura was educated in Oil City, PA schools.

She was a homemaker and had worked at GC Murphy’s, Hornsby’s, Johnson Press, and H & R Block.

Laura loved her family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She also enjoyed working in her garden and doing crossword puzzles.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to any charity benefiting children.
