Marsha L. Owens, 36, of Washington PA, died unexpectedly Tuesday, March 17, 2015, in Washington PA.

Born June 20, 1978 in Oil City, she was the beloved daughter of Willie M. and Diana R. Lyles Owens.

A 1996 graduate of Oil City Sr. High School, she attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, graduating in 2000 with a Bachelor’s Science Degree in Music Education.

Then graduated Capital University in 2012 earning her Master’s Degree in Music Education, Choral Emphasis.

Marsha began her teaching career in the Trinity Area School District in Washington, PA in 2000 at the Middle School, in 2005 moved to the Trinity Sr. High School currently served as the Choral Music Director.

Professional affiliations included American Choral Directors Association, National Association for Music Education, Arts Education Collaborative Organization of American Kodaly Educators, and the PMEA.

Marsha was a member of the Washington Community Theatre, Washington Festival Chorale, served as a volunteer on the Teacher Advisory Panel for the Pittsburgh Opera.

Sharing her love of music, since 2011, Marsha was the All Star High School Choir Director with Washington Symphony Orchestra.

Marsha loved to see her “kids” perform.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by one brother Willie M. Owens, II, two nephews, Donte A Brandon and Myrik M. Owens, all of Butler.

Also surviving are an Uncle, Foster L. Lyles, an Aunt Patricia A. (Arthur) Jarzenske of Franklin, and an Aunt, Jeanette Hayes, of Oil City, and Uncles, Charles E. Owens, Sr., of Oil City, Claude S. Owens, of Maryland, and numerous cousins.

Friends may call at the Morrison Funeral Home on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.

Funeral services will be conducted in Trinity United Methodist Church at 1:30 pm Saturday with the Rev. Lora A. Adams-King, officiating.

Interment will be in Grove Hill Cemetery.
